Every year in late October mushrooms begin to flourish in fields and forests throughout Mendocino County. During this time savvy foragers can find Chanterelles, Porcinis, Morels, hedgehogs, and even a few marvelously maple-syrupy Candy Caps. To honor the season the Mushroom, Wine & Beer Festival is held during the first week in November. Other wild edibles, (including huckleberries and seaweed), are also celebrated along with various locally-fermented beverages including Kombucha and Cider.
