Handley Cellars

Handley Cellars in beautiful Anderson Valley boasts not only a brilliant winemaker in Mia Handley, but also a commendably conscious approach to both farming and wine making. They source their grapes from small, local, family growers, and whenever possible, select fruit that is farmed organically. All of their Estate Chardonnay and sparkling wines are produced entirely from their own organic-certified fruit, as are most of their reserve bottlings of Pinot Noir.

Always mindful of the impact of their wine production on their rural valley location, they farm responsibly, working to encourage healthy, living soils, an approach that has yielded them  intense fruit that combines strong varietal characteristics and unique regional attributes.

Dry and warm conditions during the 2014 growing season resulted in an early harvest. There was limited availability of water in the soil, lessening the yields but concentrating the flavors in the grapes.

Handley’s Estate Vineyard Pinot is a beautifully aromatic wine that offers pronounced aromas of cherries and violets with a loamy, toasty overtone. On the palate you’ll find rich flavors of dark ripe, red fruit and hints of cinnamon. Silky tannins and firm acidity combine well to give the wine a long and complex finish.
