Can We Afford To Eat In San Francisco? is the title of the first event in a series of evening conversations presented this spring by the national investigative news organization Mother Jones and Food Tank, a nonprofit organization in food and agriculture.
Held in San Francisco at the SFJAZZ Center on May 29, 2019, from 7pm to 10pm., the evening is part of Food for Thought, a program created to inspire a conversation on food access, affordability, and equity.
The evening brings together leading advocates of a more equitable and sustainable food system, including both policymakers and academics, to share ways to improve food access in San Francisco and across California.
Speakers will include: Tanya Holland (Brown Sugar Kitchen), Leigh Gaymon Jones (Castanea Fellowship), Danielle Nierenberg (Food Tank), Justin Phillips (San Francisco Chronicle), Tom Philpott (Mother Jones), Alice Waters (The Edible Schoolyard Project and Paul Willis (Niman Ranch).The $25 Tickets include light bites and networking opportunities following the program.
