Taqueria De Amigos

Drive down Old Stage Road, just off highway 101, along the San Mateo coast while marveling both at the magnificent ocean and the verdant rolling hills, towards the tiny town of Pescadero. Forget about the GPS. When you reach the town just lean out the window and ask anyone on the street, (no, not that guy) for directions to Taqueria De Amigos, or even just that taco place will do…they’ll know exactly what you mean.

Nearly as anonymous as famous, the little taqueria lies inconspicuously inside a gas-station-mini-mart. Just go in and get in line. If possible, have a friend snag one of those three tiny tables by the salsa bar that’s brimming over with taco toppings: pickled radishes, carrots, and peppers, fresh multi-colored salsas, and those nice crispy chips. At about four bucks a pair, these tiny but mighty fresh fish tacos stand with the best in California.
