At 54 Mint Umbria-born Alberto Avalle and a convivial staff serve up stellar housemade daily pastas, often featuring their own cured meats. The delightful list of appetizers here includes Sicilian rice cakes w/ black squid, and Parmesan shavings served w/ 20-year-old Balsamic vinegar. The wine list is exclusively Italian but, surprisingly, offers a good selection of both red and white choices under $35.
