Sonoma County’s El Molino Central, is a wonderful little outpost of authentic Mexican “street food” in Northern California. Owner Karen Waikiki fell in love with Mexican cuisine early in life and studied with legendary Mexican food maven Diane Kennedy in Michoacán. Waikiki buys all her produce from local organic farmers and works with a group of very talented women, all raised in rural Mexico, in order to showcase their rich heritage of traditional culinary skills and recipes.
Chile Rellenos here involve fire-roasted poblano chiles filled with sweet corn and melted queso fresco served with a side of pureed black beans and fresh tomato salsa. The utra-fresh guacamole is always outstanding , the cold cantaloupe agua fresca, exquisitely refreshing, and bags of handmade stone ground-corn tortillas can be purchased to go.
