Vichy Springs

The springs at Vichy Springs Resort & Country Inn, are located in the hills of Ukiah, only two hours north of downtown San Francisco. They are the only naturally warm and carbonated Vichy-style mineral baths in North America and were a vital and sacred resource to the groups of extended families collectively called Pomo, who once lived on this area. The site was later also a favorite place of retreat for one of California’s greatest authors Jack London.

The mineral waters at this rustic spa have unique healing properties. They are also known to be palliative for a variety of ailments including stomach acidity and ulcers, as well as rheumatism and arthritis. Europeans have been long familiar with the fact that carbonated water of this type, with its high and balanced mineral content, can be helpful to those with circulatory problems.

Just a three or four minute soak in the fizzy luke warm water here (there’s also a large swimming pool and jacuzzi on site) will dilate the body’s capillaries, increase blood flow, and give the bather a deep sense of warmth and relaxation. Oh, and ust a short hike from the springs lives this lovely little waterfall.
